- Antique 5 Stone Opal Ring
- c. early to mid- 20th century
- 18k yellow gold, 5 graduated-size crystal opal oval cabochons, 8 single-cut garnets
An unusual variation on the five stone opal ring, this beautiful piece is enhanced with delicate single-cut garnet accents at the interstices. The elegant graduated-size opals have wonderful play of color, and the band has a delightfully solid weight. This is a striking find.
Due to the technical prowess required to fully fashion such small garnets, we believe this piece to have been created sometime between the art deco and Hollywood Regency periods.
Size 7.5 - can be sized within 1-2 size range
- Face length: 22.84 mm
- Face width: 8 mm
- Center opal: 7.1 mm x 5.89 mm
Excellent antique; the center opal has a small chip on the back side, invisible when worn; that was likely in place when the ring was fashioned. One garnet stone has a chip at the crown, visible only under magnification. Mild surface wear is present on all antique jewelry.
